LeSourdsville WRF Expansion Master Plan and Preliminary Engineering Report
Hazen and Sawyer has nearly completed the LeSourdsville Water Reclamation Facility Expansion Master Plan. Alternatives for wet weather flow management and treatment process expansion have been presented along with the estimated project costs. BCWS met to finalize the selections and complete the report. The next step will be to prepare a preliminary engineering report for Phase I improvements this summer.  BCWS will then begin preparing the bidding documents for construction in 2010. The project cost is estimated between $50M and $60M.

Preston Ridge Lift Station Elimination
BCWS has installed 640 linear feet of 8″ gravity sewer main with ten service laterals and two new manholes, extending the gravity sewer from Grace Meadows subdivision to the former location of the Preston Ridge Lift Station off Senour Drive. The lift station has been eliminated, and a large section of its force main is being removed to clear the path for our water main replacement on LeSourdsville-West Chester Road. Restoration has been completed, and no visible trace of the lift station remains.

Big Monroe Parallel Force Main
BCWS will install 8,000 linear feet of new 24″ force main parallel to the existing force main from the Big Monroe Lift Station on North Main Street to the gravity sewer main on Todhunter Road. This project will double the capacity provided by the existing main. Additionally, it will help facilitate repair of the existing force main, which may be needed within five years. Testing of the existing main and initial planning have been completed. Surveying work is approaching completion. The engineering consultant is Arcadis. Construction is scheduled for fourth quarter 2008 through first quarter 2009.

Monroe West Water Supply
JWCI has designed two pressure relieving valves (PRVs) and meter pits to be installed at the intersection of S.R. 63 and Salzman Road and the Monroe Fire Department property on S.R. 4. These pits will supply water to the western portion of the City of Monroe. The PRVs will provide water at a higher pressure than the city can currently provide. This will improve the fire protection in the area, especially along S.R. 4. This project will also address the problem of water age due to the dead-end water along S. R. 4. Bids for the project are scheduled to open on July 15, 2008. Construction is scheduled for completion by mid October 2008.

Shaker Creek Relief Sewer
This sanitary sewer project will provide additional capacity to serve the developing areas north of S.R. 63 in Warren County. The project includes more than a mile of 36″ pipe which will run parallel to an existing 15″ sewer. Construction is expected to start in December 2008.

Cincinnati-Dayton Road/West Chester Road Intersection Improvement Project
BCWS is working with Butler County Engineer’s Office and West Chester Township to replace 1,800 feet of 10″ cast iron water main with 12″ ductile iron water main. Decorative replacement sidewalk will be placed on top of the new water main.

Sharon Creek Force Main Replacement
The Sharon Creek Force Main serves BCWS sewer customers in Butler and Hamilton counties. About one half-mile of the force main pipe has deteriorated significantly, and has been scheduled for replacement with a combination of force and gravity mains. The section BCWS will replace runs along the county line through the vacated Fields Ertel right of way to the west of U.S. 42. Construction is expected to begin as soon as the final easement and design issues are resolved.

Castle Hill Water Main Replacement
This project includes replacing approximately 2,027 linear feet of 8″ cast iron pipe with 8″ ductile iron pipe. Don May Contractors, Inc was the apparent low bidder for this project, with a bid amount of $197,994. Construction for this project is scheduled for third quarter 2008.

SR 747/Kyles Station Road Water Main Relocation
This project includes relocating approximately 4,500 linear feet of 12″ water main to clear the way for the new intersection at S. R. 747 and Kyles Station Road. The water main replacement is currently under construction with BCWS staff completing the work. In partnership with Liberty Township, this project was expanded to include an additional 550 linear feet of 10″ water main to serve the new Liberty Township fire station. The entire project was completed in the second week of June.

LeSourdsville-West Chester Road Water Main Replacement
A road improvement project by the BCEO is now in progress near the construction site of the Lakota School District's new elementary school on LeSourdsville-West Chester Road, north of Tylersville Road. In conjunction with the BCEO project, BCWS is replacing 1650 feet of 12″ cast iron water main with new 12″ ductile iron pipe along LeSourdsville-West Chester Road from just north of Tylersville to East Senour Drive. BCEO is in charge of the project, and construction was completed in September.

McCauley Road Water Main Replacement
GM Pipeline was the apparent low bidder for this project to replace 5,300 feet of 8″ and 10″ water mains. BCWS anticipates construction to last between three and four months with expected completion in Fall 2008.
