About Us

The Butler County Department of Environmental Services provides safe, reliable services to Butler County — one of the fastest growing counties in Ohio.

BCDES offers water and wastewater service to a growing population of more than 100,000 in West Chester, Lemon, Liberty, Fairfield, Hanover and Ross townships, the city of Monroe and the village of New Miami. BCDES's Solid Waste Management District is responsible for making recycling and waste reduction options available to all Butler County residents.

BCDES Director Susan E. Vance manages overall operations of the department. She relies on Deputy Director Robert B. Leventry and two division heads—one each from environmental and operations—to keep the utility running smoothly. BCDES has 145 employees performing tasks ranging from office duties to plant operations to field work.
